Clothing Policy
Our sauna exists to support bodily wellbeing, dignity, and inclusion for all users. This policy sets out our approach to clothing in a way that respects a diverse range of bodies, identities, beliefs, and comfort levels. It replaces our previous guidance and seeks to bring clarity to everyone engaging with this space.
We are proud to offer a space that is trans-inclusive and body-positive, while remaining respectful of religious and cultural needs, and mindful of the visibility of our sauna from surrounding spaces.
in the Sauna Area
- Clothing below the waist is required in every session.
- Top-half clothing is optional for all customers during regular sessions. We do not enforce any distinction based on gender presentation or identity.
in the Communal St Anne’s House area
- Outside of Bristol Community Sauna’s space (the changing rooms and outside sauna area), everyone needs to wear robes and footwear (for example, if going to the toilet, cafe or walking through the building).
Session-Specific Clothing Requirements
- Some sessions may have additional clothing requirements. These requirements will be clearly communicated in advance.
- We remain open to suggestions from individuals or groups whose needs are not currently catered for and welcome collaboration on the development of new session formats.
General Etiquette
- All attendees are expected to behave respectfully and avoid intrusive behaviour, including staring or commenting on others’ bodies. This is clearly communicated in our Etiquette page, which all customers must agree to before attending.
